Description
Ligularia dentata Othello has very attractive foliage as well as bright, eye-catching flowers. The leaves are large, rounded with saw-edges, and in spring they are flushed deep purple before turning deep green, but the undersides remain dark red/purple. During summer through to autumn the plants are topped with large, daisy-like, narrow petalled, yellow-orange flowers which are held well above the foliage and are attractive to butterflies. They thrive in sun or partial shade in a moist soil and die down in winter but will re-shoot in spring. Water well before planting and until and spread 60 – 90cm (2 – 3ft).
