Description
Ajuga x tenorii Chocolate Chip is a compact form of Bugleweed that has small, narrow, bronze-green leaves, overlaid with chocolate-brown colour during the cooler months and short spikes of showy blue flowers appear in late spring. This tough, fully hardy dwarf cultivar is often used as groundcover and is an ideal choice for small spaces that can also be walked on and mowed over. Often referred to as the Carpet Bugle, it will also spread over and around rocks and does very well under trees.
A very low maintenance plant, the Ajuga prefers moist, well-drained soil. Plant in partial or full shade as full sun may scorch the leaves. Keep the soil moist but it can also tolerate near drought conditions. It can be mowed over after flowering.
