Description
Known as ‘Chocolate Vine’ Akeibia quinata is a semi-evergreen climbing shrub that sports bright green foliage with obovate leaflets notched at the tips of the leaves. The foliage of this plant is accompanied with reddish-purple flowers that bloom between March and May, they have a spicy fragrance with hints of vanilla, in warmer climates it can produce large, sausage-shaped fruits. This variety prefers fully sunny or partially shaded positions in the garden, ideal for training against a wall or over a pergola, it can also tolerate most types of soil provided it is well-drained.
