Aloe dichotoma

Description

Native to desert and semi-desert areas in South Africa, Aloe (Aloidendron) dichotoma is one of the largest tree form Aloe species. Named after the perfectly dichotomic arrangement of its leaves around its thick trunk. Fleshy blue-green leaves emerge in clusters at the tips of the plants’ many silver branches, while its beige woody base develops a scaly texture over time.

WATERING

In Summer water thoroughly only when 100% of the soil has dried out. A/W allow soil to dry 100% – water sparingly (every two months). Spring gradually increase watering – depending on temp and light exposure.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser 2-3 times a year.

REPOTTING

Repotting is only necessary if and when the offsets have filled the pot, otherwise it can stay in the same pot for many years.
