Description
Lincolnshire variety first recorded in 1904. Noted for intense rich aromatic flavour with taste of aniseed developing after picking, crisp yet soft with melting juicy creamy-white tinged green flesh. Skin greenish-yellow streaked red. Hardy, easy to grow and prolific cropper. Not suitable for areas with high rainfall. Pick in mid September. The blossom attracts bees, and later any fallen fruit is eagerly consumed by thrushes and other similar birds. Bullfinches are, unfortunately, partial to the buds.
