Description
A reasonably versatile and low maintenance herbaceous perennial with great flower shape and rich colour. The Astrantia ‘Claret’ is a variety of Masterwort with deeply lobed or divided, mid-to-dark green foliage beneath slender, wiry stems holding deep purple-red, pincushion-like flowers consisting of umbels of tiny florets surrounded by long, narrow bracts from early Summer and throughout.
Plant in moist, humus-rich, fertile, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun in a sheltered position. Tolerates drier soils and conditions once established but does not tolerate drought conditions.
