Description
Start the seeds indoors from February-June.
Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and do not cover, as light aids germination.
Keep at a temperature of 16-18c until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate within 14-28 days, though some may take longer.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots or small clumps.
Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Plant out after the risk of frost has passed.
Space plants about 20-25 cm apart.
Water moderately during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
Cut back old foliage in early spring to maintain a compact clump and encourage fresh growth.
