Description
This Buxus Pyramid can be used on its own or in a group of different Buxus sizes and shapes to create a striking ornamental feature. Buxus sempervirens is a versatile evergreen shrub particularly well suited to topiary. It adds year-round colour and interest and can be used to accentuate entrances, gates, patios and driveways. Alternatively, plant it out in the garden to add height and structure to flower beds and borders.
Commonly known as Boxwood or Box, Buxus is happy in most soil types and demands very little maintenance to remain healthy and attractive. Potted shrubs do require more watering than their in-ground counterparts so make sure the soil is kept moist but well drained and water well during dry spells. Use very sharp secateurs to trim your shrub and remember that less is more – you can always trim more off but you can’t add it back on if you get carried away! Common Box is a slow growing plant so you shouldn’t need to clip it more than once or twice a year to maintain its size and shape.
Boxwood is a hardy shrub and copes well with whatever the Great British weather throws at it. It will withstand harsh winter temperatures and provide attractive greenery throughout the year. In spring small clusters of creamy yellow flowers bloom between the leaves, adding extra interest and texture as the weather warms up.
