Description

Sow the seeds indoors from March-June or September-November in a well-prepared seedbed.

Sow the seeds thinly on the surface and lightly cover with a fine layer of soil or grit.

Keep the soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge.

Seeds will usually germinate within 14-28 days.

Germination can be slow and may require cold stratification for 4-6 weeks, then return it to warmth.

Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them to 10-15 cm apart to allow room for growth.

Choose a sunny or partially shaded site with well-drained soil for best growth and flowering.

Gradually acclimatise any indoor-sown plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.

Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.

Plants produce clusters of bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers in spring, which are excellent for wildlife gardens, meadows, and native plantings.

Allow some seed heads to mature if you want natural self-seeding for the following season.
