Description
This many-branched specimen has a thick base, with an intricate pattern left behind by spent leaves covering the surface of the stems. Slender branches snake between each other, with a bright green tuft of leaves at the top.
The dramatic Dracaena draco ‘Compact’. The most striking of the ‘Dragon Trees’ is slow growing, producing just a chunky single stem as a juvenile plant but eventually spreading out and branching out. Dense rosettes of long sword-shaped leaves in shades of blue-green with tinges of silver are around 60cm long, while the trees themselves can reach an imposing 7.5 metres in the wild. When mature and multi-branched, Dracaena draco ‘Compact’, with more slender stems than usual, makes for a hypnotising display of contorting stems, although its thick patterned stems are impressive all on their own.
