Description
First discovered growing on a mountain-side in Kenya, these members of the Euphorbiaceae family have dense, red spines and a distinct, branched shape which starts to sprawl as they age. Tolerant of varying temperatures and long periods of drought, these characters would do well with a little neglect on a sunny windowsill.
WATERING
Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is 100% dry during the spring/summer months. Refrain from watering during the winter months.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Full sun.
FEED
Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.
REPOTTING
This species can live in the same pot for several years. Repotting may only be necessary once every 2-3 years (or longer), once roots begin to protrude out of the drainage holes. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.
