Euphorbia xylophylloides

Description

Native to the arid regions of Madagascar, this almost leafless species grows upwards at first but then eventually sprawls out on all sides. Its branches are flattended, leaf-like and unsymmetrical growths called platyclades. these stretch out and produce a wild shrub, or tree, that can’t be tamed.

WATERING

Water when soil is dry 100%. Water lightly (if at all) during winter months.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.

REPOTTING

It can stay in the same pot for a number of years as it is such a slow growing plant. If it does ever become too small for the pot it is in, repot into one size up and use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
