Description
This solitary barrel cactus grows a round or elongated dark green stem, with distinct short recurved dark brown spines around one thick spine. Vibrant yellow blooms appear during the summer months.
WATERING
Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is 100% dry during the spring/summer months. Refrain from watering during the winter months.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Full sun.
FEED
Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.
REPOTTING
This species can live in the same pot for several years. Repotting may only be necessary once every 2-3 years (or longer), once roots begin to protrude out of the drainage holes. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.
