Description
Tiny in size but big in impact, Forsythia x intermedia ‘Nimbus’ is one of the smallest of this variety that we sell. Growinghigh yet still keeping all the characteristics of its much larger cousins, bright yellow flowers cover the naked stems in spring, followed by dense green foliage later on. This deciduous shrub is perfect for including in a flower border but also wouldn’t look out of place at the front of a shrub border too!
Feed and water Forsythia plants regularly until fully established. Container grown plants will require annual dressing with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser and regular watering throughout the summer months. Border grown plants will require less attention. In late spring after flowering has finished, prune Forsythia by cutting back all flowered shoots to a healthy pair of leaves. On established Forsythia plants, cut back up to a fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to encourage healthy new growth and improve flowering. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
