Geum ‘Leonard’s Variety’

Kick-start summer with a burst of copper-tinged blooms, courtesy of beautiful Geum ‘Leonard’s Variety’. The delicate and graceful nodding flowers are borne in sprays upon maroon-red tinged stems that waft gently above fresh green deeply cut rounded leaves. The flowers are open with yellow, nectar-rich centres that bees and pollinator adore. Where there is a colour gap between spring and summer, plant Geum ‘Leonard’s Variety’ and consider that gap plugged!

Planted in drifts or groups, this reliable perennial (commonly known as water avens) forms a clump over time and will produce an impressive amount of stems once established. They like a free-draining soil, but not too dry and they’re happy in full sun or dappled shade. Geum rivale ‘Leonard’s Variety’ partners well with contrasting flower shapes, such as Aquilegia and Thalictrum, which also bloom at around the same time.
