Gladiolus ‘Impressive’

If any Gladiolus is truer to its name that this one, we would be surprised, for this Gladiolus nanus cultivar is truly impressive! In early summer, Gladiolus ‘Impressive’ produces pale-pink flowers with striking magenta blotches in the centres of the petals. Then, within the blotches, are centres of pale pink. Curiously, however, these markings appear only on one half of the flower! Bright green sword-shaped leaves add a touch of elegance to Gladiolus nanus ‘Impressive’, and complete the scene.

The popular, very free-flowering dwarf Gladiolus ‘Impressive’ will flower from May-July, and is best in a sheltered spot protected from the worst of the wind. It makes a perfect addition to patio pots and containers, as it grows to a dwarf height of just 40-50cm. Don’t forget, as well, that the flower spikes of Gladiolus nanus ‘Impressive’ make excellent cut flowers, and make a very special ingredient in a summer arrangement or bouquet.
