Cherish the winter flowering efforts of Hellebore ‘Double Queen’, brightening the garden when others are slumbering.
Each plug boasts big, ruffled, and double blooms that differ from one-another, having been grown from seed, with a mix of colour, speckles, and darker edges to the petals. These Hellebore establish into small clumps, increasing in number year after year, with displays potentially expanding upwards of 50 flowers after five years or so.
The cup-shaped blooms provide a valuable source of nectar for early pollinators. Although they appear delicate and dainty, the flowers are actually incredibly tough and hardy to withstand whatever weather conditions are in store.
‘Double Queen’ thrive in rich, well-drained soil in dappled shade, with preferred soil conditions that are humus-rich and moist. They can also be grown in pots if space is limited, just don’t let them dry out in the summer heat.
