Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-18°C. Seedlings appear 21-42 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant singly to small pots. Gradually acclimatise to outside conditions. Transplant 35cm apart in flowering position in autumn.
Flowers July to September, the following year.
For outdoor sowing
When May to July.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Transplant 35cm apart in flowering position in autumn.
Flowers June to August, the following year. Remove dead flower spikes to encourage further blooms.
