For indoor sowingWhen January to In trays of seed Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15°C. Seedlings appear in 14-21 Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). When 10cm tall transplant into holes 15cm apart with 30cm between October to outdoor sowingWhen March to In a prepared seed Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil. An ‘ageless’ favourite producing thick, medium length, tender stems. A very hardy, reliable variety of Scottish origin, first introduced back in 1834.
