An ever popular cottage garden favourite. Great for cut flowers, in the border and large containers. Can also be grown as an annual in colder areas. For indoor sowing
When January to April.
Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 30cm apart in flowering position. Keep moist and weed free.
Flowers July to October, the same year. Remove dead heads to prolong flowering. Cut back stems after flowering to help plants clump up.
