Johnsons Poppy Seeds, Britain’s favourite wildflower, lovely in gardens. Sow in meadow areas or in naturalistic drifts in borders.
For outdoor sowingWhen March to May or August to October. Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position. How Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-28 days. Make 2-3 sowings for a longer flowering season. Care When large enough thin to 15cm apart. Keep moist and weed free. Flowers May to September. Remove dead heads to prolong flowering. Late sowings flower the following year.
The ‘Field’ or ‘Flanders’ poppy with delicate scarlet petals, is the traditional emblem of remembrance. Adds bold colour to borders and ‘wild’ areas.
