Description
Silver-grey narrow leaves and masses of spikes of very attractive, dense, dark violet flower from July to September which are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. Both the foliage and flowers are heavily perfumed filling the air when brushed against. It is named after Lawrence Johnson’s famous garden, Hidcote Manor in Gloucestershire. Plant in a sunny position, in well drained soil. The dried leaves and flowers of Lavenders are useful in a pot-pourri. The flower heads should be cut before they are fully open.
