Description
Leucothoe Little Flames is a bushy evergreen shrub that provides plenty of colour interest throughout the year. Young leaves emerge a crimson shade of red in spring, contrasting beautifully with the glossy green mature leaves underneath. New growth turns green in summer before the whole plant’s dense foliage returns to a dramatic crimson hue in autumn and winter. Small white flowers appear on these hardy shrubs in April and May. These are insignificant and don’t detract from the striking foliage.
Commonly known as Doghobble or Drooping Laurel, Leucothoe Little Flames has a compact growing habit that makes it perfect for brightening patios and paved areas in a plant pot or container. However, these garden plant also grow well in beds and borders, providing structure and colour contrast, particularly during the grey winter months.
Leucothoe Little Flames are low-maintenance outdoor plants that are easy to grow and look after. These evergreen plants are hardy to harsh winter temperatures and thrive in dappled or partial shade.
