Description
Lupinus Blacksmith is a vigorous, perennial plant with sturdy stems rising above bushy clumps of palmate, dark green leaves. Their erect spikes of densely packed, purple and white bicoloured flowers have newer green buds appearing near the top. A free flowering variety which opens up from the bottom over several weeks, providing a long blooming period from late Spring into early Summer. This impressive variety with its bold colouring and elegant stripes will be sure to provide some linear interest to your borders or patio containers.
Provide a sheltered location to protect your Lupines from winds or stake the flowers well with bamboo canes in spring before the flowers appear. Deadhead regularly to encourage a second flush of flowers. Protect the young plants from slug and snail attacks.
