Description
Meadow Fescue or Festuca pratensis is a very persistent grass. It does not require high temperatures for active growth, and is very winter hardy. It appreciates a high soil moisture content. Meadow fescue can be grown successfully on a wide range of soils.
With an early spring growth, with a regrowth consisting mainly of leafy shoots. It is suitable for both cutting and grazing and is a benefit to Rabbit and Horses. It compliments cool grow grazing grasses as it continues to produce nutritional forage in the summer months.
Meadow Fescue is also a great grass to use as a cover crop to prevent soil erosion due to its deep, dense root structure.
