For outdoor plants in summer, sow indoors Feb-Apr, 0.5cm deep, thinly in trays of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C. is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. To encourage bushy growth, pinch out central tips when plants are 10cm high. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 20cm apart, when frosts are over. Remove flowering stems to keep the foliage at its best. For use as indoor pot plants, sow indoors at any time of year, pot on seedlings individually to 15cm pots and keep in a light, airy location.
