Mr Fothergill’s Kale Nero Di Toscana Seeds, Nutritious baby leaf or winter veg. Sow outdoors until June for mature plants to harvest from Sept to March, sow until September and pick as required for baby leaf. Sow indoors for mature plants only.
Sow outdoors thinly in a seed bed, 1.5cm deep directly into finely prepared, moist soil. Allow 45cm between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Thin to 45cm apart. No thinning is necessary if only baby leaves are required. Keep moist. Regular sowings made every two to three weeks will ensure a continuous supply. Sow outdoors until June for mature plants to harvest from September to March, sow until September for baby leaf. Harvest baby leaves from June. Or sow indoors, 0.5cm deep, in a tray of compost. Keep warm and moist. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 45cm apart. Harvest mature plants from September to March.
