Description
Mr Fothergill’s Lettuce Winter Density Seeds, Overwinter for early spring lettuces. During very cold spells, it is better to sow indoors and to transplant seedlings outside, protecting them with fleece.
Sow outdoors thinly where they are to crop, 1.5cm deep, directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Allow 30cm between rows. Sowings will benefit from cloche or fleece protection and the young plants will suffer less damage. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Thin out to 15cm apart. Water well until plants are established. Regular sowings made every two to three weeks will ensure a continuous supply.
