Description
Mr Fothergill’s Osteospermum Daisy Mae Mix Seeds, Drought tolerant and beautiful. Remove dead flower heads to prolong the flowering season. Plants are sometimes hardy in sheltered locations, especially if given a mulch of straw or peat in winter.
Sow indoors a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow, 0.5cm deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C. is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Transplant individually when large enough to handle to 8cm. (Always handle by a leaf, never by the stem.) Grow on in cooler but not cold conditions. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 30cm apart when frosts are over. Does well in poor, light soils, but they need full sun for best displays. Remove dead flowers to prolong flowering season.
