Description
Mr Fothergill’s Sweet Pea Perennial Everlasting Mix Seeds, Delightful ‘Cottage Garden’ climber. A good choice for cottage gardens where it can scramble through established shrubs or over walls and fences.
Sow indoors for surest results, 1.5cm deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse or on a cool windowsill. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Transplant individually when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. (Always hold seedlings by a leaf, never by the stem.) Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 45cm apart, when frosts are over. Support plants. Or sow outdoors thinly in a seed bed, into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Protect young seedlings from birds. Thin seedlings to 5cm apart before planting out to flowering position in autumn.
• A hardy perennial, flowers the year after sowing
• Pretty ‘sweet pea’ type flowers year after year
• Charming climbing trellis, fences and through shrubs
Sow time: Mar-Jun
Flowering/Harvesting time: May-Jul
