Description
Osmanthus heterophyllus Purpureus, also known as Holly Olive or False Holly, is an evergreen shrub with leaves which have a striking resemblance to holly. Leathery foliage is dark green, or deep purple on young plants with pointed, spiny leaves. In late summer, clusters of small, white flowers bloom until autumn, standing out against the dark foliage.
Plant Osmanthus heterophyllus Purpureus in moist, well-drained soil such as chalk, clay, loam or sand in a sunny or partially shaded spot in the garden. The Holly Olive plant is perfect for adding to borders or using as hedging or screens.
