Description
Excellent variety. Medium sized fruit of superb flavour, with smooth pale green skin which turns to pale yellow with a slight pinky-orange flush when ripe. The flesh is white, melting and juicy, sweet but balanced with a lemony acidity, quite rich and lightly fragrant. Ideal garden pear suitable for growing throughout the United Kingdom. Raised in East Malling Kent in 1938, but not named or released until 1974. A popular pear which is valued for its ease of cultivation and its reliable crops with high yields, but the crops may need thinning to ensure the pears are a good size.
