Description
Low growing, clump-forming herbaceous perennials with beautiful foliage colour and good garden interest. All Phormium could be described as such and the phormium ‘Liquorice and Lime’ is no exception. The long, arching, narrow evergreen foliage is a lovely maroon colour with green margins. Above the foliage, in Summer, grow stems bearing small clusters of trumpet-shaped red flowers which complement the display nicely.
Plant in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil and keep in full sun. Tolerates partial shade. In colder regions the foliage may dieback or be damaged by frosts or cold winds, so some Winter protection is advised. Fresh growth will be seen the following Spring.
