Description
Surface sow seeds thinly between May and July on well-drained compost.
Cover lightly with glass or polythene to retain moisture.
Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent overheating.
Remove the cover as soon as seedlings emerge to allow fresh air circulation and prevent damping off.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into trays spaced 5cm apart or into individual pots.
Grow the seedlings in a cool, shaded location, keeping the compost lightly moist but not waterlogged.
Harden off seedlings gradually before planting them in their flowering site in September.
It will flower the following spring.
