Polystichum Herrenhausen

Description

Polystichum setiferum ‘Herrenhausen’ is a bushy, semi-evergreen, hardy fern, known commonly as soft shield fern (herrenhausen). In the spring, this fern produces a rosette of feathery, lace-like mid green fronds with bronze coloured scales on the midribs. It will stay green in milder winters but may die back in cold weather and exposed areas.

Plant in a moist, well drained, humus rich soil. Thrives best in partial shade or full shade. Best suited in a shaded border or bed, or in a cottage garden.
