Description
Many plants sulk in shade, but the Western Sword Fern absolutely loves it!
Polystichum munitum is an architecturally striking evergreen fern. From a central crown, long, lance-shaped fronds arch upwards and outwards in a glorious shuttlecock shape, each one leathery, glossy and a rich, deep shade of dark green.
In fact, the evergreen fronds can reach up to 90cm in length on well-established plants.
A holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, and it’s fully hardy too! It copes with temperatures well below freezing and it has excellent resistance to pests and disease. Plant it beneath trees, alongside hostas and astilbes, or in a large container on a shaded patio.
Low maintenance, long-lived and genuinely impressive – this is a fern that earns its place in the garden every single day of the year.
Supplied as an established plant in a 2 litre pot, ready to plant.
