Description
Prunus Cistena is a deciduous ornamental tree boasting attractive colourful foliage that changes with the seasons and small flowers during summer. The ovate leaves grow to around 2 inches long and sport a reddish purple colour throughout summer before turning to a bronze-tinged green in Autumn, the small flowers bloom from April until June and eventually give way to small purple fruits in July that are often eaten by birds.
Plant in well-drained, moist soils and position in a full sun or partially shaded area. Once planted, monitor the area around for any competing weeds. Once this plant is established, it will require only a small amount of care as they are extremely hardy, tolerating poor soils as well as drought and hot or cold conditions.
