Description
Start the seeds indoors or sow directly outdoors from early spring.
Sow the seed very thinly over prepared soil and rake in lightly.
Keep the seeded area consistently moist until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate within about 14-21 days under good conditions.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin or transplant them to about 30-45 cm apart.
Gradually acclimatise any indoorsown plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Plant out after all risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
Choose a sunny or partly shaded, this plant tolerates damp soils and is ideal for borders or waterside edges.
Water regularly during dry spells until established.
Leave seed heads if selfseeding is desired.
Prune or cut back old stems in spring.
