This heritage cultivar differs from other types in having big, softer leaves that are ideal for autumn since they don’t require as much cooking. With its smooth green leaves and purple-red stems, this cultivar also has a distinctive look. In fact, some individuals grow it only for decorative purposes to spruce up their autumn gardens with vibrant colour.

Growing instructions:

Sow the Red Russian Kale Frost Hardy seeds from February to July. Thinly sow seeds into trays (2cm deep). Germination usually takes 10-14 days and once the seedlings have germinated and have grown 10-15cm tall, transplant the seeds or spread the plants 30-50cm apart. Water plants thoroughly after planting especially during warm summer days. Harvest within as little as 4-8 weeks from sowing.
