Description
The ‘Laced up’ Elderberry variety is a gorgeous deciduous fruiting shrub that is hardy, easy to take care of and suitable for small spaces. Its lacy, slender dark green foliage acts as an attractive backdrop for the delicate, light pink flowers released in early summer.
The blooms will attract butterflies and other pollinators, and turn into black edible fruit – the plant is partially self-fertile, but the chances improve if a pollinator elderberry is close.
Low maintenance, versatile and good looking, the Sambucus will do well as a border plant, screening, or grown in a patio container.
Any part of the plant may cause digestive discomfort if ingested. The berries, when ripe and cooked, are suitable for consumption.
