One of the largest willow species, it gets its name from its habit of splitting with cracks and fissures.
Growth and size
Mature height: 25m.
Growth rate: 30-60cm per year.
Supplied as 20-50cm cell-grown saplings.
Can be planted all year round with proper care.

Food plant for moth caterpillars, including puss moth, eyed hawk-moth and red underwing.
