Description
This mixture has been obtained and processed as follows. They originate from stock grown in the wild in the UK. They are then multiplied up commercially, then the seeds are packaged, mixed and distributed in the UK. Wild seeding aims to allow a lengthy period of establishment with room for slower germinating flower seeds. There is scope for increasing or reducing rates to suit circumstances or budget.
To prepare a seed bed first remove weeds. Then plough or dig to bury the surface soil to create a narrow hole. Sowing Seed is best sown in the autumn or spring but can be sown at other times of the year if there is sufficient warmth and moisture. The seeds must be hand planted. Each plant has its unique method of attracting pollinators or distributing its seed. The grass variety used in the 80/20 mixtures contain grasses that are slower growing in order to reduce the risk of the wildflowers being cut out. Some of the grass species in the mixtures are rare and grow to be very attractive.
