Description
Start the seeds indoors from March-May.
Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and lightly cover.
Keep at a temperature of 18-20c until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate within 14-21 days.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into clumps in a 1 l pot with good drainage.
Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a sunny, well-drained site.
Space plants about 20-25 cm apart.
Water moderately until established, but avoid waterlogging.
Cut back old foliage in early spring to maintain a neat, compact clump and encourage fresh growth.
