Description
Start the seeds indoors from January-May.
Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost and dont cover, as light aids germination.
Keep at a temperature of 20-24c until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate within 7-14 days.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
Grow on in bright, indirect light, keeping the compost just moist.
Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a partially shaded site.
Space plants about 25-30 cm apart to allow room for growth.
Water regularly during dry spells, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier, more compact growth.
