Description
A very popular Mediterranean plant cultivated throughout the world for its lovely scent and use as a culinary herb. The Rosmarinus officinalis, or Rosemary, is an evergreen perennial shrub with an upright habit. It carries mid to dark green, waxy, needle-like foliage which produces its signature scent when crushed. Loose clusters of small, pale blue flowers appear throughout the foliage from late Winter into Spring, with a second bloom possible in the during the Summer months.
Plant in moderately fertile, well-drained soil and keep in full or partial sun. Generally easy to grow and fairly hardy but will grow best in sandy, acidic soils. Drought tolerant once established. May suffer some dieback from frosts during harsh Winters but will regrow the following Spring.
