Eulychnia castanea f. varispiralis

Description

Uncommon in cultivation, Eulychnia castanea f. varispiralis is an unusual, slow-growing plant with a spiralling helter-skelter form. Its spiralling pattern grows either clockwise or counter-clockwise, with golden yellow spines emerging in varying lengths throughout the stem.

WATERING

Water when soil is dry 100%. Water very lightly (if at all) during winter months.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.

REPOTTING

Repot every 2-3 years. Use a well-draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
