Euphorbia dendroides

Description

Known as ‘tree spurge’, the delicate Euphorbia dendroides grows into a small tree or a succulent shrub. Its dainty light green lanceolate leaves emerge in clusters at the branch tips, appearing with tinges of red and purple if exposed to intense sunshine over the growing season. Able to reach heights of 2 metres tall, Euphorbia dendroides often develops a thick and woody trunk at the base for support, with the scars from its spent leaves leaving clearly visible patterns all along its branches. As protection from extreme heat, to limit transpiration, the plant may begin to shed its foliage during the hottest summer months.

During S/S water when the soil is 100% dry.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser twice between April – September.

REPOTTING

Repot every 2-3 years. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
