A native wild flower found in hedgerows and on walls, with pinnate foliage and small, bright yellow, Poppy-like flowers, each an inch or so across, which appear from the time the swallow (the names, both English and Latin, derive ultimately from the Greek word for the bird) arrives in spring until it departs in late summer.
