Description
Heuchera are very versatile evergreen perennials with exquisite plant colours, unseen in usual gardens. They present a wide range of exceptional foliage colours and bright flowers, both at the same time. Cinnabar Silver is a new hardy variety that is tough and can withstand extreme weather conditions. It grows short in height but with large mounds of stunning metallic silver leaves.
Cinnabar Silver is also known as the Coral Bells or Cinnabar Alum Root and features shallow lobed shiny silver foliage and tall upright stems carrying panicles of small deep red flowers that bloom in spring. The compact mounds of striking silver leaves have distinct purple veining and are underlain with reddish-purple. The flowers attract hummingbirds in spring and the leaves create a soothing garden effect throughout the year.
Heuchera Cinnabar Silver will thrive in any average to moist organic soil that is moderately well-drained. It does well in both full sun or partial shade but produces more vivid colours in full sunlight. Water the plants moderately leaving the soil to dry in between.
This is a tough plant that can tolerate extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, drought and exposed winds. Prune any damaged or withered leaves in spring. While planting any Heuchera, always make sure that the crown is not buried in the soil, otherwise the stem will tend to rot.
Cinnabar Silver can make a very pleasant accent plant. It is perfect for shady areas in the front of the border or in rock gardens. It fits well in mixed containers especially when placed in front of Hydrangeas.
