Description
Hydrangea ‘Velvet and Lace’ is a hardy shrub that brings long-lasting elegance to gardens with its striking lacecap blooms. Each flower head combines a centre of tiny fertile florets with an outer ring of velvety bracts, creating texture and depth that set it apart from standard mophead varieties.
From midsummer through autumn, it provides continuous colour, keeping gardens alive with interest while many other plants begin to fade. The changing tones of the blooms only add to its charm, making every week a little different.
This hydrangea is hardy, reliable, and long-lived, forming a rounded shrub of around 1.5m height and spread at maturity. It’s equally impressive in borders or grown in large containers, where its flowers can be enjoyed up close. Even in winter, the dried flower heads remain decorative, adding structure and character to frosty mornings.
Despite its luxurious look, ‘Velvet and Lace’ is easy to grow. It thrives in moist but well-drained soil, and once planted, it requires very little attention beyond occasional watering in dry spells. Its fully hardy in UK conditions, coming back bigger and better every year.
Supplied as an established plant in a 19cm pot, ready to plant.
